Axon Moore are supporting a growing, acquisitive business in the appointment of a Finance Manager to lead the financial control and operational finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant making a first or second move from practice, looking to step into a broad leadership role within a fast-paced and evolving environment.
The role will take ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensure robust balance sheet controls, and oversee day-to-day finance operations. Alongside core financial reporting responsibilities, the successful candidate will support ongoing projects, systems improvements, and wider process optimisation initiatives across the business.
Managing a small team, the Finance Manager will play a key role in driving performance, improving efficiencies, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with group requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop a finance team, fostering a high-performance culture
Take ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely management reporting
Maintain strong balance sheet controls, ensuring reconciliations are complete and fully supported
Ensure financial reporting complies with internal policies and accounting standards
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function, including transactional finance processes
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support audit and reporting requirements
Support finance systems administration, optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and enhance operational efficiency
About You
ACA / ACCA qualified (ideally practice trained)
Ideally seeking a first or second move from practice into industry
Experience operating within a fast-paced finance environment
Previous people management or supervisory experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Confident using ERP systems and advanced Excel
High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
