Axon Moore are supporting a growing, acquisitive business in the appointment of a Finance Manager to lead the financial control and operational finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant making a first or second move from practice, looking to step into a broad leadership role within a fast-paced and evolving environment.

The role will take ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensure robust balance sheet controls, and oversee day-to-day finance operations. Alongside core financial reporting responsibilities, the successful candidate will support ongoing projects, systems improvements, and wider process optimisation initiatives across the business.

Managing a small team, the Finance Manager will play a key role in driving performance, improving efficiencies, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with group requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor and develop a finance team, fostering a high-performance culture
  • Take ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely management reporting
  • Maintain strong balance sheet controls, ensuring reconciliations are complete and fully supported
  • Ensure financial reporting complies with internal policies and accounting standards
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function, including transactional finance processes
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support audit and reporting requirements
  • Support finance systems administration, optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and enhance operational efficiency
About You
  • ACA / ACCA qualified (ideally practice trained)
  • Ideally seeking a first or second move from practice into industry
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced finance environment
  • Previous people management or supervisory experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confident using ERP systems and advanced Excel
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
