We are seeking an ambitious and dedicated Deputy SENDCo to join our thriving and forward-looking academy. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND practitioner to play a key role in supporting the leadership and development of inclusive provision, ensuring that all students are able to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

Working closely with the SENDCo, you will support the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the academy. You will play a central role in removing barriers to learning, ensuring that students with additional needs receive the highest quality support and make strong academic and personal progress.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with students with SEND in a secondary school setting
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of SEND provision, interventions, and inclusive practice
  • Has high expectations of student behaviour and achievement
  • Is highly organised, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Is committed to working collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies
  • Is passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for all learners

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the SENDCo in providing professional leadership to remove barriers to learning for students with SEND [jobs.theguardian.com]
  • Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on effective SEND strategies and inclusive classroom practice [jobs.theguardian.com]
  • Work closely with students, parents, and external agencies to ensure appropriate provision and support [jobs.theguardian.com]
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of targeted interventions, including small group and 1:1 support [jobs.theguardian.com]
  • Monitor and track the progress of students with SEND, ensuring timely and effective interventions
  • Contribute to the development of SEND policies, systems, and provision mapping
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure statutory requirements are met
  • Deputise for the SENDCo as required
