Junior Accounts Assistant

Adele Carr Recruitment are working with a leading business to recruit a Trainee Accounts Assistant, your role will included supporting the wider Finance team across a broad range of accounting and finance administration duties. This role offers hands-on exposure to both purchase ledger and sales ledger processes, bank reconciliations, month-end support, and general finance operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesPurchase Ledger & Accounts Payable

  • Processing and coding supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Reconciling supplier statements against the purchase ledger
  • Assisting with payment runs
  • Resolving supplier queries and maintaining strong supplier relationships

Sales Ledger & Accounts Receivable

  • Raising and issuing customer invoices
  • Allocating cash receipts and maintaining accurate debtor records
  • Supporting credit control activities and chasing outstanding balances

Bank & Cash Management

  • Performing daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
  • Posting bank transactions onto the accounting system
  • Processing petty cash transactions and maintaining accurate records

Month-End & Reporting Support

  • Assisting with month-end close procedures
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with company procedures

General Finance Administration

  • Filing, scanning, and archiving financial documentation
  • Supporting the finance team with ad hoc administration and queries
  • Assisting with audit preparation
  • Supporting inter-company reconciliations across UK and international entities

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Be studying towards AAT Level 2 or above, or be committed to starting AAT studies
  • Have strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Be confident using Microsoft Excel and Office 365
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Be reliable, professional, and eager to learn

Desirable Experience

  • Previous finance, accounts, or office administration experience
  • Experience using accounting software such as SAP
  • Exposure to purchase ledger or sales ledger processes
  • Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
