About the Opportunity

Via is supporting a well-established, fast-paced commercial organisation with a strong UK presence, currently looking to appoint a Credit Controller to join its finance team on-site in the Wirral.

This is a key role within the business, focused on maintaining healthy cash flow, reducing aged debt, and building strong working relationships with customers.

You’ll be joining a collaborative finance function where your work has a direct impact on business performance.

The Role

You will take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely collection of payments while managing queries and maintaining accurate records.

This is a high-volume, fast-paced position that requires strong organisation, attention to detail, and confidence when dealing with customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure payments are received within agreed terms
• Proactively contacting customers via phone and email to follow up on outstanding invoices
• Investigating and resolving invoice and account queries in collaboration with internal teams
• Reconciling customer accounts and maintaining accurate records
• Updating internal systems with all collection activity
• Supporting the reduction of aged debt and minimising risk exposure
• Processing payments and issuing relevant documentation where required
• Escalating any risks or concerns to senior team members

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role
• Experience managing a high-volume ledger
• Confident communicator, particularly over the phone
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to resolve queries and manage challenging conversations professionally
• A proactive, team-oriented approach

Experience with systems such as Sage, Credit Hound, or similar is beneficial but not essential.

Additional Skills (Desirable)

• ICM qualification (or working towards)
• Experience with procurement portals
• Strong Excel skills
