Reed FE is seeking an experienced and motivated Service Manager to lead and develop a high-performing delivery team within an outcomes-focused, publicly funded environment. This is a senior operational role with responsibility for people leadership, contract performance, stakeholder relationships and financial oversight.

The Role

As Service Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of delivery and support staff to ensure successful contract delivery and the achievement of agreed outcomes. This is a specialist, person-centred service designed to support individuals involved in, or at risk of entering, the criminal justice system. The programme works with participants to address multiple and complex barriers to employment, training and stability, helping them build the skills, confidence and support networks needed to make positive, sustained life changes.

You will oversee performance, quality, compliance and financial performance, while developing strong local partnerships to support participant progression into employment or learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop delivery and support teams to achieve contractual targets and outcomes
  • Drive high levels of performance, quality and compliance across all service delivery activity
  • Maximise participant progression, including job outcomes and sustained employment or learning
  • Build and maintain strong local relationships with employers, partners and stakeholders
  • Oversee financial performance, including income targets, staff productivity, client spend and office costs
  • Ensure robust data management, accuracy and audit compliance
  • Promote continuous improvement across systems, processes and service quality
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant local and national policy, labour market trends and funding requirements
  • Ensure services are delivered with integrity, professionalism and a strong focus on participant experience
  • Take responsibility for health and safety compliance across delivery sites
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support service success

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience of leading and managing teams in a performance-led environment
  • Strong track record of delivering against targets and contractual outcomes
  • Confident communicator, able to present to partners and stakeholders
  • Experience working with management information (MI) and financial data
  • Strong written skills, with the ability to produce clear reports
  • Competent user of IT systems

Knowledge & Attributes

  • Good understanding of publicly funded services and policy-driven environments
  • Knowledge of people management principles and employment legislation
  • Awareness of local labour markets and employer engagement
  • Results-driven, resilient and proactive
  • Confident people manager with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A collaborative team player with high levels of integrity

All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
