About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join a specialist educational setting supporting children and young people with additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a nurturing, communication-focused environment.

You will work closely with Speech and Language Therapists, teaching staff, and parents to provide high-quality support to pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). The role involves both classroom-based and targeted therapeutic support, helping students to develop the skills they need to thrive.

This position is available for an immediate start for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Speech and Language Therapists in delivering therapy programmes to individuals and small groups
  • Work with pupils in both classroom and therapy settings to implement speech and language interventions
  • Assist in preparing therapy materials and maintaining a communication-friendly learning environment
  • Monitor and record pupil progress accurately using internal systems
  • Contribute to assessments and reviews alongside the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Support whole-school communication strategies and initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals to ensure consistent support
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with additional needs, particularly speech and language difficulties
  • Has experience supporting or delivering speech and language interventions or following individualised programmes
  • Is confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Has a good standard of English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Is organised, flexible, and able to follow guidance with strong attention to detail
  • Is passionate about supporting communication development and improving outcomes for young people
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding and professional standards
