We are currently working with a Local Authority in the East Midlands who are seeking an experienced Risk Officer to support their Finance & Resources Directorate on an interim basis.

Risk Officer

Start: ASAP

Rate: Negotiable day rate inside IR35

Working Arrangement: Hybrid – 1–2 days per week onsite

Duration: 3–6 months initially (likely extension)

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of an effective risk management service to the Council through engagement with appropriate officers

• Assist the Corporate Risk & Assurance Manager in embedding risk management activities across Directorates, including Directorate and Corporate risk registers

• Support delivery of the Council’s risk management strategy, structures, processes and working practices in line with best practice

• Provide risk management advice and challenge officers where appropriate throughout the risk management cycle

• Facilitate risk identification discussions and support Directorate risk reviews using agreed risk management documentation

• Produce clear and concise reports following Directorate-level risk discussions

• Support the delivery of risk management training alongside the Corporate Risk & Assurance Manager and external trainers

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in risk management

• Strong knowledge of risk management principles and practices

• Excellent report writing skills

• Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

• Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge senior officers where appropriate

• A recognised risk management qualification is desirable but not essential
