About the Role

Reed Education are working in partnership with a primary school in Carshalton to recruit an inspiring and experienced Early Years Lead & Class Teacher.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to take on a key leadership role, driving excellence within the Early Years Foundation Stage while delivering high-quality classroom teaching.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping EYFS provision, supporting staff development, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for pupils within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and develop the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
  • Drive high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment across EYFS
  • Analyse pupil data to inform strategy and improve outcomes
  • Line manage EYFS staff, supporting development and performance
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement as part of the leadership team

Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver consistently high-quality classroom teaching
  • Lead phonics and early maths development
  • Create an engaging indoor and outdoor learning environment
  • Support SEND pupils and ensure inclusive teaching practices

Operational & Team Support

  • Lead team meetings and provide coaching and feedback
  • Support staff development and CPD
  • Organise events, trips and parent engagement activities

Safeguarding & Pastoral Care

  • Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
  • Work closely with safeguarding leads and ensure compliance
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and the wider community


About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has strong EYFS teaching experience
  • Demonstrates good to outstanding teaching practice
  • Has experience or ambition in leading a phase or team
  • Is confident in phonics delivery and early years development
  • Has a strong understanding of assessment and pupil progress
  • Builds positive relationships and communicates effectively
  • Is enthusiastic, resilient, and committed to making a difference
