We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll and Bookkeeping Assistant to join a growing, modern firm of Accountants based in Cleckheaton.
As a Payroll and Bookkeeping Assistant, you will be responsible for:
Process sales and purchase invoices, receipts, and payments
Perform bank reconciliations
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Assist in the end-to-end processing of weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients
Input, check, and reconcile payroll data including salaries, bonuses, overtime, and deductions
Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP)
Support the administration of workplace pensions, including auto-enrolment, employee assessments, and re-enrolment duties
Process starters and leavers, including issuing P45s and ensuring accurate records
Assist with year-end procedures, including P60s and P11Ds
Liaise with HMRC regarding payroll queries and submissions (RTI – FPS/EPS)
To qualify or this Payroll and Bookkeeping Assistant position, ideally you will meet the following:
Minimum 1-2+ years’ bookkeeping and payroll experience, having worked at an accountancy firm.
Proficiency in accounting software, including Sage, QuickBooks, and Xero would be beneficial.

Salary from £26,000 to £28,000
