An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HR Advisor to join a growing business. Reporting to the HR Director, this hands-on, generalist role supports around 100 employees and delivers comprehensive HR advice to managers across the organisation. This is ideal for an experienced HR professional looking to further develop in a fast-paced environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

Employee Relations

  • Act as first point of contact for ER matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance
  • Provide advice on policies, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant application
  • Support investigations, hearings, and outcome documentation
  • Maintain accurate records and escalate high-risk cases

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment: advertising, screening, scheduling, and offers
  • Issue contracts and offer letters
  • Oversee onboarding including right-to-work checks, references, and inductions
  • Maintain accurate recruitment and starter records

HR Administration & Compliance

  • Maintain employee records in line with GDPR
  • Prepare contracts, letters, and HR documentation
  • Support HR audits and ensure documentation is compliant and up to date
  • Ensure statutory obligations are met throughout the employee lifecycle

Performance & Absence

  • Support appraisal and salary review processes
  • Advise on performance improvement and capability procedures
  • Monitor absence, support return-to-work meetings, and manage long-term cases

Payroll & Benefits

  • Liaise with payroll to ensure accurate processing of employee changes
  • Maintain HR data in line with payroll deadlines
  • Assist with benefits administration and employee queries

HR Reporting & Training

  • Produce reports on headcount, turnover, recruitment, and absence
  • Maintain HR data to support workforce planning
  • Support training coordination and maintain records

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in an HR Advisor or HR Officer role
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience managing ER cases end-to-end
  • Experience in recruitment and onboarding
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator able to advise and influence
  • CIPD Level 3+ desirable (or working towards)
  • Construction or similar sector experience advantageous
