Your new role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled English and Literacy Teacher to join a committed academic team on a part-time basis. You will deliver high-quality, differentiated English and literacy provision to students with dyslexia, supporting reading, spelling and writing development through specialist and multisensory approaches.

The role spans Year 7 to Sixth Form. In addition to classroom teaching, you will contribute to small-group and one-to-one literacy support, play an active role in curriculum development, and take on pastoral responsibilities, including serving as a Form Tutor.As this is a boarding school environment, you will also contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and occasional weekend duties in line with published rotas.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated English and literacy lessons for students with dyslexia
• Using multisensory, phonics-based and evidence-informed teaching strategies
• Delivering targeted literacy interventions (small group and one-to-one)
• Monitoring and assessing student progress, maintaining detailed records and IEPs
• Contributing to departmental planning, curriculum development and whole-school literacy strategy
• Working collaboratively with learning support staff, boarding staff and parents
• Fulfilling pastoral duties, including Form Tutor responsibilities

What you'll need to succeed

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an honours degree in English (or significant experience teaching English/Literacy)
• Proven experience teaching students with dyslexia and SpLD, in either a mainstream or specialist setting
• Strong knowledge of literacy development, including phonics, word and sentence-level work
• Experience delivering differentiated and age-appropriate English language and literature curricula
• Familiarity with evidence-based dyslexia teaching strategies and literacy interventions
• Excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills
• A flexible, empathetic and student-centred approach
• Willingness to fully engage in the wider life of a boarding school
