Financial Accountant

Meraki Accountancy & Finance’s leading client is looking to add a Financial Accountant for an initial 12 month period. This is a key role within the finance team ad the successful candidate will provide financial accounting advise and support.

Key duties of the role include:

Financial Reporting & Accounting
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare annual financial statements, governance reports and supporting working papers
  • Lead liaison with external auditors and respond to audit queries
  • Prepare accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Maintain and develop the chart of accounts structure
  • Produce management reports and financial analysis to support decision-making
Audit, Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, VAT regulations and internal controls
  • Support committee reporting and statutory reporting deadlines
  • Review and improve financial procedures and controls across the organisation
  • Prepare VAT returns and provide VAT/tax guidance where required
Treasury, Banking & Income Control
  • Oversee income recording, banking and reconciliation processes
  • Supervise cash and banking controls across facilities
  • Manage bank reconciliations and ad hoc payment processing
  • Oversee cash collection arrangements and treasury-related processes
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate finance processes
  • Support finance system developments, upgrades and testing
  • Work with systems including Unit4 ERP and related applications to improve reporting and operational efficiency
Experience required:
  • ICAS / ACCA / CIMA Qualified
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working to challenging month and quarter end deadlines.
  • Ability to analyse and present complex financial information
  • Process improvement mindset
On offer:
