A well-established and highly regarded Cumbria law firm is seeking a Commercial Property Solicitor to join its expanding team in Penrith.

This is a retained assignment, underlining the strategic importance of the hire and the firm’s commitment to securing a high-calibre, long-term addition.

The Opportunity

You will join a respected agricultural and property team, handling a diverse and high-quality caseload, including:

  • Agricultural land sales and acquisitions
  • Rural and farming-related property matters
  • Commercial property transactions
  • Acting for landowners, farmers, and rural businesses
  • Managing your own caseload with minimal supervision

This position has arisen due to a developing skills gap and planned succession, offering the opportunity to step into a key role within the department.

The Team

  • Led by an experienced and supportive Head of Department
  • Strong internal progression history, with solicitors and trainees developing within the firm
  • Collaborative, stable, and predominantly office-based culture

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales)
  • 3–5 years’ PQE (flexibility for strong candidates slightly outside this range)
  • Experience in commercial property and/or agricultural law
  • Confident managing your own caseload and able to hit the ground running
  • Willing to work primarily office-based in Penrith

  • Full-time, primarily office-based in Penrith
  • Hybrid working may be considered for those based further afield
