1:1 Teaching Assistant (Behavioural SEN) – Year 4/5

About the Role

Reed Education is seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 4/5 with behavioural SEN needs in a welcoming primary school in the DN7 area.

This supply role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and making a meaningful impact on their education, behaviour and emotional wellbeing.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider pastoral team to deliver consistent, supportive and positive interventions throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with behavioural/SEMH needs
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour using agreed strategies
• Encourage engagement with learning and promote independence
• Implement behaviour plans and SEN support strategies
• Support learning both in and out of the classroom
• Assist with transitions, break times and unstructured periods
• Maintain clear communication with school staff and Reed consultants

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN or behavioural needs (desirable)
• A calm, patient and consistent approach
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• A genuine passion for inclusion and supporting vulnerable learners
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
