Medical Lead – Complex Care Hours: 36 hours per week
Working pattern: 40 weeks per year (term time only)
Salary: £40,205 to £42,503 actual salary for 36 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

About the Role This is a newly created role based at Barra Hall in Hayes, our new SEND centre opening in September 2026. Barra Hall will provide a welcoming, high-quality and inclusive learning environment, designed specifically to improve outcomes for students with special educational needs, including those with severe learning difficulties (SLD).
Reporting to the Head of Learning Support, the Medical Lead will take overall responsibility for overseeing and coordinating the medical care and support arrangements for learners with complex medical needs.
Key Responsibilities - Work closely with medical professionals and multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and medication administration
- Ensure all learners with complex medical needs are fully supported in line with clinical and educational requirements
- Implement, review and monitor Individual Support and Care Plans and individual risk assessments, ensuring EHCP recommendations are consistently met
- Line manage a team of Learning and Care Support Assistants, providing guidance, training and ongoing support
- Deliver and coordinate staff training linked to learners’ individual medical and care needs
- Ensure robust systems are in place to meet safeguarding, health and regulatory standards
About You You will be a Registered Nurse or a Qualified Nursing Associate / Healthcare Assistant, with the ability to demonstrate:
- Training in Manual Handling, First Aid, Safe Administration of Medication, Epilepsy, Anaphylaxis, Dysphagia and Diabetes, including the safe administration of emergency medication
- Knowledge of the Children and Families Act and the SEND Code of Practice (0–25) and associated legislation
- Experience working with learners with Profound and Complex SEND
- A strong understanding of CQC standards and regulatory requirements
- Experience producing individual Care Plans and Risk Assessments
- A good understanding of Health and Social Care processes
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively
