Plastics Regulation Specialist

We're looking for a Plastics Regulation Specialist for our public sector client on a 12-month contract (Inside IR35).

This role is hybrid, with 3 days per week on-site at one of the following locations: Bristol, London, Newcastle or York.

The successful Plastics Regulation Specialist will be an experienced industry professional with a strong understanding of plastics regulation and producer responsibility policy. You will advise on legislative mechanisms for plastic reduction, engage with a wide range of stakeholders including retailers, producers and trade bodies, and help shape workable policy that reflects real-world industry experience.

You will need proven experience working with the following:

  • Advising on plastics regulation, including EU and UK regulatory frameworks such as the SUP ban, carrier bag rules and single-use plastics reporting
  • Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) policy or implementation
  • Stakeholder engagement across industry, retailers, trade bodies and local authorities
  • Monitoring and reporting on delivery metrics and escalating emerging issues
  • Circular packaging strategies, including reusable packaging or producer responsibility systems

Experience with the Global Plastics Treaty, PackUK, or PRN and PERN systems would be beneficial.
