Electrical Commissioning Engineer

We are currently looking for an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join a growing engineering team working across the UK and offshore, supporting cutting-edge projects in power generation, wind farms, and battery energy storage (BESS).

Job title: Electrical Commissioning Engineer

Location: UK-wide & Offshore (travel required)

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday–Friday (flexibility needed for site-based work)

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum


What you’ll be doing:

This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in bringing major energy projects to life.

You will be involved in installation, commissioning, testing, and final handover, ensuring systems are energised safely and meet all regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Commissioning, testing, and fault-finding on LV/MV/HV systems
  • Interpreting schematics and technical drawings
  • Working with control systems, panels, and protection devices
  • Supporting renewable energy projects (wind & BESS)
  • Carrying out pre-commissioning checks and verification
  • Ensuring health & safety compliance on-site
  • Producing test documentation and handover reports
  • Collaborating with project teams, clients, and subcontractors
  • Supporting FAT/SAT activities and representing the business on-site

What we’re looking for:

  • NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Electrical apprenticeship or similar training
  • Experience in commissioning or electrical engineering within industrial, power, or renewable sectors
  • Knowledge of control panels, switchgear, and protection systems
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Nice to have (but not essential):

  • HV Authorised / SAP status
  • Offshore certifications (GWO, BOSIET, HUET)
  • 18th Edition qualification
  • Experience with wind, power, or BESS projects
  • SCADA or control systems knowledge
