Art Teacher - SEN School (Aylesbury)

The school caters for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), social communication needs, and challenging behaviours linked to SEMH and additional learning needs.

About the role

• Deliver engaging and accessible Art lessons across KS3-KS4 (and possibly KS2 pathways)
• Adapt the curriculum so every learner can find their own way to "draw out" success, regardless of starting point
• Use art as a tool for emotional regulation, communication, and engagement, helping pupils to "sketch out" their feelings in a safe and structured way
• Support pupils with autism, sensory needs, and behaviours that challenge
• Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and behaviour specialists
• Create a calm, structured environment where pupils can "paint a picture" of progress at their own pace

Ideal candidate

• Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
• Experience or strong interest in SEN, particularly autism and SEMH

• Able to build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable learners and help them "frame" their progress in a positive way
