Location: King’s Heath (Office-based)
Salary: Starting at £35,000 DOE + discretionary bonus

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join a dynamic and fast-paced business. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll while supporting wider finance operations in a busy, project-driven environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare and process payroll data for circa 70 PAYE employees, ensuring accuracy prior to submission to external accountants.
  • Collate and verify employee working hours, ensuring correct input into payroll systems and job sheets.
  • Manage payroll-related compliance, including tax codes, statutory deductions, and submissions.
  • Handle attachment of earnings orders (AEOs) and ensure all deductions are applied correctly.
  • Process employee expenses, including fuel claims and project-related costs, ensuring accurate reimbursement.
  • Support pension contributions, PAYE, and other payroll-related reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with finance and operational teams to ensure payroll aligns with live project activity.
  • Assist in reconciling payroll reports and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records using Sage, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality standards.
  • Support the preparation of information for VAT returns where payroll impacts financial reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc administrative support to the finance team as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Payroll Administrator or similar payroll-focused role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK payroll processes, legislation, and compliance.
  • Experience using Sage Payroll (essential).
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in processing payroll data.
  • Ability to manage workloads in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Discreet and professional approach when handling confidential information.
  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred).
