Location: Colchester (Office-based)

Type: Permanent (Full-time or Part-time)

Role Overview

The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of financial and bookkeeping activities. The role requires a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records using double-entry bookkeeping
  • Manage sales and purchase ledgers
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Monitor bank accounts and track cash flow
  • Process and manage payroll
  • Prepare monthly management accounts including profit & loss and balance sheet reports
  • Oversee credit control processes
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Carry out general administrative and finance-related tasks as required

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
  • At least 3 years of practical bookkeeping experience
  • Experience with accounting software (ideally Intact Xline)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment
