Reed Finance are pleased to be supporting a North Essex based SME business affiliated with the construction industry, who are in need of a new Financial Controller (Head of Finance) to partner with Director level and play a pivotal role in building and shaping the business for the future.
Heading up the finance function, managing a small team, and partnering with the CEO, the ideal candidate will be hands-on, operationally and strategically focused and capable of streamlining operations and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Management:
Complete management of the day, including the managing the day to day transactional and all financial reporting:
- Cashflow planning
- Monthly management accounts.
- Managing payroll processing.
- Manging all budgeting and Forecasting process with commentary
- CIS and VAT submissions.
- CIS labour processing.
- Audit responses and activities
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models;
- Analysing profit and loss, balance sheets and cash flow to aid strategic decision making
Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to Directors, external auditors and other third parties such as HMRC, sub-contractors, clients and suppliers where required;
- Maintaining absolute compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Risk Management:
- Monitoring financial risks, proposing mitigation strategies and advising on investment and/or funding decisions.
Process Improvement:
- Identifying potential opportunities to improve financial processes and procedures, internal controls, and operational efficiencies
Team Leadership as Department Manager:
- Supervising finance staff, providing guidance, training and performance management, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work proactively and reactively.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in fast paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite of software, financial software and systems (e.g. Sage, Xero, Excel etc.) and familiarity with multi-entity or multi-currency environments.
