Interim Payroll Manager

Delighted to be partnered with a well established business to support the recruitment of a Interim Payroll Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee end-to-end payroll operations across:
  • Weekly payroll/Monthly payroll
  • Process high-volume payroll for approximately 1,600 UK employees
  • Ensure all payrolls are delivered accurately and in line with deadlines and compliance requirements
  • Supervise a team of 3 payroll staff, providing guidance and support
  • Manage payroll queries and resolve escalations efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation (tax, NI, pensions, statutory payments)
  • Maintain and validate payroll data integrity within the system
  • Produce and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and submissions
  • Work closely with HR and Finance to ensure smooth payroll operations

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Payroll Manager or Senior Payroll position
  • Strong experience managing high-volume payroll (1,000+ employees preferred)
  • Hands-on experience processing both weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Essential: Sage Payroll experience
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring a small team
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
