Join our esteemed national law firm in Southampton as an Employment Lawyer. This role offers the opportunity to handle a mix of contentious and non-contentious work, primarily supporting corporate employer clients. Day-to-day of the role:

  • Engage in both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, supporting corporate employer clients and occasionally senior executives and claimants.
  • Handle complex disputes and high-value claims, gaining expertise in technically and strategically challenging matters.
  • Split your time between disputes, general advisory work, and occasional corporate support tasks.
  • Play an active role in business development, including participating in seminars and networking events, and drafting guidance and articles.
  • Benefit from the support and resources of a larger national team, ensuring high levels of client contact and responsibility.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Circa 6+ years PQE with robust experience in employment law, HR matters, and Tribunal cases for employers.
  • Proven track record of managing cases from inception through to final hearing, including compliance with directions and detailed discovery exercises.
  • Experience in advising on day-to-day employment issues such as disciplinary proceedings, grievances, redundancies, and discrimination issues.
  • Skilled in preparing contracts of employment, policies/handbooks, and advising on settlement agreements.
  • Excellent team player with a capability to provide commercial solutions to client issues.
  • Strong drafting, research, and advisory skills, demonstrating practical and commercially minded advice.
  • Interest in business development and practice growth.
  • Non-contentious/corporate support skills are beneficial but not mandatory.
