We are seeking a dedicated Line Leader to oversee operations within a specific department, ensuring compliance with company and legislative health and safety requirements, maintaining high-quality standards, and maximising efficiency. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this role is pivotal in driving team performance and operational excellence.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the health and safety functions within the department, ensuring all practices meet legislative standards. Conduct regular inspections, accident investigations, and monitor near misses.
  • Lead and motivate a team of operatives to achieve production targets while maintaining quality and minimising costs.
  • Utilise SIC boards and KPIs to monitor production efficiency and implement improvements.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping throughout the department.
  • Manage labour costs and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Ensure a consistent flow of production data for accurate KPI reporting.
  • Review and enhance production methods and systems to boost efficiency.
  • Monitor and address waste levels, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Set up department machinery and production lines daily to optimise performance.
  • Collaborate with the Personnel Manager and Training Officer to develop and deliver effective training programmes, fostering a culture of multi-skilling and advancement.
  • Work closely with the Technical Team to maintain production control procedures that meet the standards required by the company, customers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Perform additional manual or management duties as required in food production.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a team and motivate staff to achieve high performance.
  • Proficient in using production efficiency monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
