Job title: Junior Scientist

Salary: up to £28,500

Location: Borehamwood

My client is looking for a Junior Scientist to join their team, full training is given, so previous experience is not essential, but a keenness to learn with a driven approach is. A strong educational background would be great specifically in Physics and/or Chemistry, but it is not essential. This role will primarily be involved with the company’s performance based additive product range together with R&D activities reporting to the Associate Scientist.

Duties:

• To assist the Technical and Sales Teams
• Testing and analytical activities
• Determination of metal species in plastic products and additives via XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) Spectroscopy
• Identification of polymer type and composition
• Accelerated ageing and stability testing of plastic
• Conduct and report experimental work
• Conduct literature reviews, plan and conduct experiments
• Technical sales support activities
• Process all test samples in accordance with company procedure
• Keep relevant parties informed on progress of sample testing and advise expected lead times
• Communicating test results to relevant parties
• Basic polymer science,
• Extrusion and conversion processes
• Relevant analytical and accelerated ageing techniques
• Carry out duties in accordance with the company’s QMS which are ISO9001 & ISO14001
