Reed Accountancy Oxford are delighted to be partnering with a UK market leading distribution company in Didcot, seeking an Assistant Management Accountant. This role offers a varied and rewarding opportunity, ideal for a motivated individual looking to grow and develop their finance career.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including year-end roll-forward activities.
  • Support the budgeting and reforecasting process, including variance analysis to identify and explain key movements.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports for senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
  • Complete balance sheet and profit and loss account reconciliations.
  • Support cost analysis initiatives to identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and policies.
  • Support the maintenance of financial systems and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the finance team as required.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client queries in line with agreed Service Level Agreements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, charts).
  • Experience in a similar role, comfortable working with people at all levels.
  • Part-qualified or QBE (Qualified by Experience).
  • Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems is desirable.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with a growth mindset to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure, and work independently or as part of a team.
