Operations Manager (Youth Justice)

Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their Youth Justice team

You will

Lead the operational Youth Justice Service on Out of Court Resolutions, Court Work, Community Orders, Custody and Bail and Remand in accordance with relevant legislative frameworks and national case management guidance as well as local policies and procedures.

Provide oversight of case management, safeguarding and management of risk issues, of quality assurance, review and audit of services for children, parents/carers and victims.

Be operational lead for the Service’s safeguarding and child protection work, including work with children subject to any form of exploitation or at risk of self harm or suicide. Ensure that risks are assessed, analysed and appropriately shared and that plans and interventions are tailored and regularly reviewed to keep children safe.

Promote the statutory aim of preventing offending whilst advocating of Child First Justice in a multi-agency context.

Direct reports to this post are: 1x Senior Practitioner (who has three practitioner posts as direct reports), 1x Probation Officer, 3x Youth Justice Officers, 1x Social Worker, 1x Education Worker and 1x Integrated Working Officer (who has 9 volunteers as direct reports).

Undertake regular quality assurance and audits of the Service’s work in light of local frameworks and take corrective actions as required.

Oversee performance in terms of adherence to National Standards and Inspection Criteria.

Ensure that the Service’s employees are effectively organised and resourced, and that the budget of the Service is effectively managed.

Lead on Recruitment for the Youth Justice Service, including seconded staff from partner organisations.
