  • Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 + Excellent Benefits

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our finance team, reporting into the Credit Control Manager. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of part of the foreign currency client ledger, focusing on reducing risk, improving cash flow, and supporting strong credit practices across the firm.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage and maintain your own client ledger, including foreign currency accounts.
  • Allocate incoming payments and reconcile accounts.
  • Chase overdue debt while maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Act as the first point of contact for client payment queries.
  • Support fee earners with updates on debt positions and credit policy advice.
  • Review and maintain credit limits, payment terms, and client account data.
  • Monitor payments and escalate accounts where required.
  • Process credit card payments, refunds, and statements.
  • Carry out external credit checks.
  • Liaise with external debt collection agencies where necessary.
  • Prepare reports for ledger reviews.
  • Support the wider team and provide cover when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in credit control, ideally within a professional services environment (legal or similar preferred).
  • Confident managing your own workload and prioritising effectively.
  • Strong communication skills – able to build relationships with both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proactive and able to resolve issues independently.
  • Comfortable working with Excel and MS Office.
  • Experience dealing with overseas clients / multiple currencies would be an advantage.
