G Crook & Sons Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Commercial HGV Fitter to join our growing workshop team due to recent expansion.

We operate a large and diverse fleet including Volvo and Scania tippers, low loaders, road sweepers, and muck-away grab lorries, as well as providing maintenance and repair services to a range of external commercial clients.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy and light commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with current legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current legislation
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance to VOSA standards
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment
• Prepare and present vehicles and trailers for annual MOT inspections
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in line with health & safety requirements
• Complete all paperwork accurately and to a high standard
• Use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Communicate effectively with Transport and Workshop Managers

About You

• Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles (HGVs) and light commercial vehicles
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Strong understanding of health & safety practices
• Experience using diagnostic tools

Desirable (but not essential):

• HGV licence
• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
