Head of Finance

We are working with a renowned Cambridge organisation who are looking for an experienced and strategic finance leader to join them as Head of Finance. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the organisation’s financial strategy while leading a dedicated finance team.
This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for ensuring robust financial management, compliance, reporting, and the continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Support the Finance Director in developing and delivering long-term financial strategy
- Lead the annual budgeting process, forecasting, and financial planning
- Provide insightful financial modelling and analysis to inform decision-making
- Monitor capital expenditure, cash flow, and financial performance
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Lead preparation of statutory accounts (RCCA) and audit processes
- Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, charity, and regulatory requirements
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and external stakeholders
Financial Control & Operations
- Oversee treasury management, payroll, billing, and debt processes
- Ensure effective financial systems, controls, and procedures
- Support departments and budget holders with financial advice
- Manage subsidiary financial activities and reporting
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, motivate, and develop the finance team (8 staff)
- Promote high standards of performance, compliance, and professional development
- Foster collaborative working across departments
About You
Essential
- Recognised accounting qualification with 5+ years PQE
- Experience producing statutory accounts
- Strong technical accounting knowledge including VAT
- Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise
- Proven experience leading and developing teams

Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £68,617 – £72,830 (depending on experience)
