I am currently working with a fantastic primary school based in Preston who are looking for a qualified and experienced Primary school teacher to join them in September.

The role will be Monday to Wednesday teaching a year 3 class for the academic year.

To deliver high-quality teaching and learning for pupils in Year 3, ensuring strong progress as pupils transition into Key Stage 2. The role involves creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment and working collaboratively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Teach a broad range of subjects appropriate to Year 3
  • Differentiate work to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and higher attainers
  • Build pupils’ confidence and independence as they transition into KS2
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement

Assessment and Progress

  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress in line with school policies
  • Provide effective feedback to pupils to support improvement
  • Use assessment data to inform planning and interventions
  • Contribute to pupil progress meetings (pro rata)

Classroom Environment

  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning atmosphere
  • Establish clear routines and behaviour expectations
  • Support pupils’ social and emotional development

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Year 3 team and Key Stage 2 staff
  • Liaise effectively with teaching assistants
  • Support smooth handovers (if job share role)
  • Communicate with parents/carers regarding pupil progress

Curriculum and School Contribution

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and development
  • Support school initiatives and events (as appropriate to part-time role)

Safeguarding

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils
  • Follow school safeguarding and child protection procedures

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
  • Good understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Experience of planning and assessment

Desirable

  • Experience teaching Lower Key Stage 2 (Year 3/4)
  • Knowledge of transition from KS1 to KS2
  • Experience of working in a job-share role
