Wood Machinist / Tool Room Setter (Temporary to Permanent)

Location: Birmingham

Hours:

• Monday–Thursday: 7:30am–5:15pm (45 min break – 9 hours worked)
• Friday: One Friday every 3–4 weeks (7:15am–4:00pm)
  Average hours: Approx. 36–45 hours per week
  Rate: £14.00–£16.00 per hour DOE

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Wood Machinist / Tool Room Setter to operate and set high-quality woodworking machinery within a busy production environment. This is a hands-on role suited to candidates with strong technical expertise and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting and operating Weinig moulding machines
• Operating Stenner band saws
• Tool setting, knife changes, and basic fault-finding
• Producing machined timber to specification
• Ensuring accuracy, quality, and safety standards are met
• Supporting tool room organisation and maintenance

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as a wood machinist or tool setter
• Experience with Weinig moulders and Stenner saws (highly desirable)
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently and within a team
