An outstanding independent SEMH and ASD specialist boys’ school in rural Horsham is expanding due to increased pupil numbers and is seeking a motivated and inspiring Primary Teacher to join its dedicated team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to make a real difference, supporting boys with Autism and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs from Reception through to Year 6.

Please note: Due to the rural location of the school, applicants must be a driver with access to a vehicle.

About the Role

As a Primary Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning while supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development within a safe and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secure high standards of teaching and learning within the classroom
  • Provide a disciplined, engaging and stimulating learning environment where all pupils feel safe and valued
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to working with pupils with Autism and SEMH needs
  • Lead and support targeted interventions and strategies for ASC/BESD pupils
  • Manage behaviour effectively to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, promoting a culture of high expectations
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of schemes of work

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Experience delivering the primary curriculum
  • Proven experience working with children with SEN, ideally SEMH and/or ASD
  • Ability to motivate, challenge and inspire pupils to succeed
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Must be a driver with access to a vehicle due to the rural setting
