Prospero's client school is offering a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist provision supporting pupils aged 7-16 with severe or complex needs including SEMH issues / trauma, Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), attachment disorder and phobia of education. This is a calm, nurturing and relationship-centred environment where pupils are supported to re-engage with learning at their own pace.

This specialist provision supports pupils who benefit from a quieter, structured setting with a strong therapeutic ethos. Pupils have a wide range of abilities and may present with complex emotional, behavioural or communication needs. The school prioritises personalised learning and pupil-centred development through:

Your Role

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will:

  • Teach Food Technology across KS2-KS4 within a highly personalised curriculum
  • Plan and deliver practical lessons that build independence, confidence and functional life skills
  • Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of needs, including behaviours that challenge
  • Create a safe, structured and engaging kitchen environment
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education

What You'll Need

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence (may be beneficial due to rural location)
  • QTS or relevant UK teaching experience
  • Ability to teach Food Technology (or strong transferable practical teaching experience)
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • References covering the last 24 months

Preferential Experience

  • Experience working with SEND, particularly pupils with complex needs or behaviours that challenge
  • Experience delivering practical subjects or life-skills-based learning
  • Experience teaching up to KS4
