Project Worker (CHISVA – on the job training provided)

Barnardos

We are delighted to be recruiting for a Project Worker in Gloucestershire. This is an exciting opportunity to join Barnardo's and become part of a passionate, experienced, and supportive team making a real difference to children and young people.

The successful candidate will work as a Children's Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (CHISVA) within the Gloucestershire ISVA Service.

You will receive fully funded, on-the-job CHISVA training delivered by Lime Culture, alongside a comprehensive induction programme, regular line management, case management, and clinical supervision to support your development and wellbeing.

About the Role

As a CHISVA, you will provide trauma-informed emotional and practical support to children, young people, and their families who have been impacted by sexual abuse or sexual violence. A key part of this role involves outreach support across the county, meeting service users in environments that feel safe and accessible to them.

Although based in central Gloucester, this is a county-wide outreach role requiring regular travel.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Communicates effectively and can build trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Is passionate about delivering trauma-informed support to children, young people, and their families
  • Is motivated to amplify the voices of service users and create opportunities for them to reach their full potential
  • Can work independently while also contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive team
  • Is committed to safeguarding, able to take appropriate action when required, while maintaining empathy, compassion, and respect
  • Is confident in outreach working, building relationships with professionals, and supporting others to work safely with children and young people

About the Service

Barnardo's delivers the Gloucestershire Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) Service in partnership with First Light. Together, we provide specialist support to anyone in the county affected by sexual abuse or sexual violence, helping them to understand their options, liaising with other services and advocating for and supporting them through the criminal justice process.

Our CHISVAs play a vital role in ensuring children and young people receive the tailored, trauma-informed support they need, both emotionally and practically.
