Senior Associate - Legal & Compliance (Maternity Cover)

£29,000 per annum

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join a busy Legal & Compliance team on a maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a legal or compliance background to gain broad exposure across regulatory, advisory, and operational legal matters within a financial services environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Legal & Compliance, you will support the Legal & Compliance function by coordinating with external advisors and providing guidance on legal and regulatory matters across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Liaise with external advisors on legal and regulatory compliance matters
• Provide guidance to the business on routine legal and compliance queries
• Draft and review compliance policies, procedures, and controls
• Maintain regulatory correspondence registers and supporting documentation
• Respond to requests from courts, regulators, and enforcement agencies within required timeframes
• Conduct horizon scanning and map regulatory changes across the business
• Prepare updates and newsletters for Compliance, Business, and Operations teams
• Review legal court orders and support committee reporting processes
• Support oversight and monitoring activities across Legal & Compliance
• Approve financial promotions in line with regulatory standards
• Manage relationships with external legal panels and advisors
• Compile reports for senior management
• Support ad hoc legal and compliance projects

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good administrative and communication abilities
• Strong research and problem-solving skills
• Solid understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Person Profile

• Graduate with a legal background (LPC preferred)
• Minimum 2 years' experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles
• Experience within financial services or banking is advantageous
• Able to work independently and collaboratively across teams
