  • Location: Sheffield centre (2 days in office and 3 wfh)
  • Pay: £13.26 per hour (PAYE)
  • Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a Support & Payments / Business Support Officer to provide high-quality business support to Social Work staff within Fieldwork / Permanence & Throughcare Teams. This role is crucial in supporting services for children and families, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and in compliance with current legislation, regulations, and council guidance.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide effective administrative and business support across the service.
  • Assist Social Work teams in maintaining and improving service delivery to children and families.
  • Handle telephone calls, respond to emails, and manage general enquiries.
  • Prepare, print, and post letters and documents.
  • Support meetings, including note-taking and recording actions.
  • Maintain and update information systems and records.
  • Process purchases of goods and services as required.
  • Offer information, advice, and support to colleagues and service users.
  • Handle mail, messages, and personal callers professionally.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the service.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in line with council policies including safeguarding, equality, and health & safety.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a busy office or administrative environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification (e.g., GCSEs including Maths & English or equivalent) or equivalent experience
