Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed Humanities Teacher to work with pupils from Year 7 to Year 11 at our client specialist SEN school in Romsey.
The school supports pupils aged 7-16 with a range of complex needs, including SEMH, ASC, communication differences, attachment-related needs and school-based anxiety. Many students join with disrupted educational experiences, and the school is dedicated to rebuilding confidence, engagement and a strong sense of belonging.

Your Role
This role is ideal for a Humanities specialist who enjoys adapting curriculum content and finding creative ways to engage learners. You will:
- Teach Humanities across Years 7-11, differentiating for a wide range of academic levels
- Support learners working toward Entry Level, Functional Skills or GCSE-equivalent pathways
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may present with emotional or behavioural challenges
- Create a structured, predictable and nurturing classroom environment
- Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff and pastoral teams to ensure a cohesive, holistic approach

What You'll Need
- Right to work in the UK
- QTS with a Humanities specialism, or strong Humanities-teaching experience
- Experience teaching Humanities at KS3 and/or KS4
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- References covering the last 24 months
Preferential Experience
- Experience working with SEND, particularly pupils with complex needs
- Confidence teaching Humanities to learners working significantly below age-related expectations
- Experience in specialist, alternative or therapeutic settings
- Understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed approaches and behaviour-support strategies
