Interim Policy, Strategy and Partnerships Officer

Based in London, hybrid working & Inside IR35

Length: 6 months

We’re seeking an interim Policy, Strategy & Partnerships Officer to support the Head of Policy, Strategy and Partnerships in driving forward the Council’s corporate improvement programme and to deliver high quality policy advice and support to the Corporate Management Team and the Cabinet that will facilitate their drive for continuous improvement and enhanced community leadership.

Key Responsibilities of the Policy, Strategy and Partnerships Officer:

• Contribute to the development of corporate policies and plan
• As directed by the Head of Policy, Strategy and Partnerships to provide and where appropriate lead on aspects of the development of strategic partnerships related to the Local Strategic Partnership and Executive Board, including:
• Partnership activity, particularly in relation to the borough’s Community Plan
• Co-ordinating key activities across the Council related to strategic partnerships, ensuring they reflect good practice and local experience
• Working with partners to develop and strengthen networks, planning and delivery of strategic partnerships and activities
• To provide policy and project management support to the Corporate Leadership Team and Cabinet in delivering their work programme, including the researching and drafting of briefing papers and reports, as directed by the Head of Policy, Strategy and Partnerships
• To explore opportunities and develop solutions to improve the activities undertaken by the Customers, Policy and Improvement Team, including learning from best practice and responding to provisions in new or existing legislation

Skills, Experience and Knowledge required of the Policy, Strategy and Partnerships Officer:

• Good understanding of the functions of and key issues facing Local Government
• Experience of policy and/or strategic partnerships development in a public sector or similar organisation
• Able to attend committee and other meetings, as required, outside normal office hours
• Experience of working closely with and advising senior managers and Members
• Knowledge of and commitment to Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy and ability to implement both within the Division and for service delivery
• Knowledge of the framework for Local Strategic Partnerships and the issues related to community leadership
