About the Role:

Our client is looking for a Financial Controller to step into a high-impact role within a business entering its next phase of growth. Working in a fast growing, ambitious business, you’ll take ownership of the finance function, building structure, strengthening controls and introducing forward looking insight to support confident decision making. You will be joining a business run by entrepreneurial Directors who move quickly and need a finance function that keeps pace.

Responsibilities:

This is not a maintenance role, this is a position where the right individual can really make their mark and add true value to the business. With a solid bookkeeping and admin foundation already in place, the business now needs a commercially minded finance leader, further developing processes, accelerating reporting and creating financial visibility. As the most senior finance professional, you’ll work closely with the Directors, shaping both the financial infrastructure and the strategic direction of the business as it continues to scale.

Skills:

  • Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or QBE with demonstrable financial controller-level experience
  • Proven experience in a financial management or financial controller role, ideally within an owner-managed or SME business
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, Sage 50 or comparable SME accounting software
  • Experience of managing all finance processes including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Month End Close
  • Previous experience of implementing procurement processes and negotiating improved supplier terms
  • History of building good credit control processes, monitoring cash collection and ensuring adherence to payment terms by key customers
  • Experience in managing a finance team including development and appraisal of team members
  • Confident preparing and presenting management accounts, cashflow forecasts, budgeting and ad hoc finance reports
  • Comfortable working directly with business owners and Directors, clear communicator who can translate numbers into decisions
  • Organised, structured and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Knowledge of passenger transport industry would be desirable but not essential along with experience with vehicle leasing, hire purchase and vehicle asset management

Benefits:

  • £45k - £60k per annum, depending on experience
