We are looking to appoint a reliable, proactive and experienced Senior Premises Officer to join a busy secondary school site. This is a key operational role, responsible for ensuring the school environment is safe, secure, well maintained and fully compliant, supporting students, staff and visitors on a daily basis.

This role would suit someone with strong facilities or site management experience, ideally within an education setting, who enjoys taking ownership of a site and leading a small premises team.

The Role

  • Full-time: 37 hours per week, all year round (52 weeks)
  • Salary: Band D – £27,904 to £29,020 per annum
  • Reporting to senior leadership / operations team

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the premises team, supporting training and day-to-day operations
  • Maintain site security, including key holding, alarm systems and emergency response
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety, COSHH, fire safety and statutory checks
  • Carry out regular site inspections and oversee maintenance schedules
  • Undertake minor repairs and general maintenance across the school site
  • Liaise with and supervise external contractors, ensuring work is completed to a high standard
  • Oversee porterage, deliveries, stock control and equipment management
  • Support compliance procedures including water hygiene, fire testing and emergency lighting
  • Coordinate first aid provision, accident reporting and RIDDOR where required
  • Monitor premises budgets, raise purchase requests and manage stock levels
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to audits and health & safety meetings

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a caretaking, facilities or site management role (school environment preferred)
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (minimum Grade 4 / Level 2)
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety procedures
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confident communicator, able to build positive relationships with staff and students
  • Willingness to work outdoors and across a full-year contract

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Level 4 or similar health & safety qualification
  • Experience supervising staff or contractors
