About the Role

We are supporting an organisation in the Rotherham area to recruit a Payroll Officer to join their finance team and take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing. This is a key role ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with statutory and internal requirements.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment with a supportive team and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements across payroll and wider finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for a monthly (and/or weekly) payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Administer starters, leavers, salary changes, and variations
  • Calculate statutory payments including SMP, SSP, SPP, and SPP
  • Manage pension schemes including auto-enrolment and submissions
  • Ensure accurate payroll deductions (tax, NI, student loans, pensions)
  • Produce payroll reports and reconcile payroll data to the general ledger

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a payroll role, processing payroll end to end
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, PAYE, and statutory requirements
  • Experience working with payroll systems and Excel
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • CIPP qualification or working towards (desirable, not essential)
