Stores Assistant

Location: Wickford, Essex

Days: Monday to Friday

Hours: 09:00am - 17:00pm

Duration: 2 Months

Pay rate: £16.76 per hour

We are delighted to be supporting our client in recruiting for a 'Stores Assistant' on a temporary, full-time basis!

Purpose of the role:

This is a fixed term post based in a collection strategy team undertaking checking and moving of library material as part of a project to save shelf space.

This location holds nearly 2 million volumed (books and Journals) in a 28,700 square foot warehouse in Wickford, Essex.

Main Duties:

• Move library materials to new locations in the warehouse.
• Match items from spreadsheets with physical library materials.
• Measure and record shelf space (full and empty).
• Update spreadsheets with measurements and information.
• Keep records of items that need extra attention.
• Report progress to project managers.

General Responsibilities:

• Follow health and safety rules (including Fire Marshall duties after training).
• Support sustainability policies and goals.
• Follow and promote workplace practices.
• Do other related tasks when asked by your manager.

Key Person Specification:

• Experience of working in a warehouse, retail, or library environment, with responsibilities including searching for items, stock handling and reshelving stock.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Attention to detail.
