TC Stiles & Co are looking for an experienced Tax Assistant to join the team in Maidenhead. This is 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.

The role would suit someone who has been working in a small or medium general practice providing personal taxation services.

Key responsibilities of a Tax Assistant will include:

• Completion of Self Assessment Tax Returns for individuals
• Dealing with general tax post, both from clients and HMRC
• Dealing with client queries, this may be by email/post/telephone
• Dealing with HMRC by telephone
• Dealing with tax admin including some scanning and filing, booking in information, updating workflows
• Dealing with chasing clients – for tax return information, signed tax returns, etc
• Potentially some exposure to Capital Gains Tax work

About you 

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience: 

• At least 2 years tax experience in an accountancy firm 
• General tax knowledge 
• Knowledge of CCH would be advantageous 
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office Products
• Good communication and written skills, in particular when communicating with clients
• Good at developing client relationships
• Hands on approach with enthusiasm for continued development
• Able to work on own initiative
• Organised, able to meet deadlines and self-reliant
• Ability to assess priorities and make decisions
• Must have a driving licence and own a car
