Senior Information Governance Officer

Wakefield Council are seeking a Senior Information Governance Officer to join the Corporate Information Governance Team. This role is crucial for ensuring the Council's compliance with legislative requirements related to information governance. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in areas such as Freedom of Information, Data Protection, Caldicott Principles, Records Management, Information Sharing, and Information Security.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Support the Corporate Information Governance Team in ensuring the Council’s compliance with the Information Commissioner's standards and evidencing that compliance.
• Assist in managing the Freedom of Information, Data Protection, Information Security, and Records/Archives Management functions of the Council.
• Take a lead role in managing and processing the information security breach function for the Council.
• Help deliver the key tasks and objectives of the Corporate Information Governance Team, ensuring effective and efficient governance practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in Information Governance, particularly within a public sector context.
• Strong understanding of Freedom of Information, Data Protection, Caldicott Principles, Records Management, Information Sharing, and Information Security.
• Ability to lead and manage complex information security breach processes.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills, capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
