You will be working in the HS2 Main Works, the SCS Joint Venture with Costain and Strabag, our HS2 Main Works South team is delivering one of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure projects - 26 miles of tunnels from London Euston to West Ruislip, along with viaducts, bridges and embankments that will connect communities for generations.

We are currently looking for a Technical Services Director who will:

As the Technical Services Director, you will:

  • Lead Technical Services and set vision, priorities and performance standards
  • Establish and maintain robust technical governance and reporting to meet contract, statutory and parent company requirements
  • Lead the Lead Designer function. Lead engineering, design and assurance to ensure safe, buildable, integrated solutions
  • Ensure technical assurance documentation is high quality and produced contemporaneously
  • Lead progressive commissioning and staged handover strategies
  • Drive integration across multiple sites and disciplines (civil, MEPH, architectural)
  • Manage technical risks including design maturity and assurance quality
  • Build and lead a high performing Technical Services team. Lead talent and succession planning
  • Lead collaboration and senior technical stakeholder relationships with HS2, other MWCCs and third parties where appropriate

We are looking for:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven track record in the delivery, assurance and handover of significant, complex construction projects involving multiple stakeholders and through leading large multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Demonstrable ability to achieve desired outcomes through management at a senior / director level of complex engineering projects
  • Proven ability to deliver performance and organisational change by working through influence in a matrix management environment
  • Proven ability to manage senior customer representatives - management of expectations and delivery of mutual objectives to achieve high customer satisfaction while balancing technical and parent company objectives
  • Chartered Member or Fellow of an appropriate professional institution or similar professional qualification
