Interim Finance Lead - Inventory

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance professional to join on an 18-month FTC as Interim Finance Lead - Inventory, based in Northamptonshire. Working 4 days on-site, you will play a key role in a major transformation programme, embedding structure, improving processes, and driving operational efficiencies across inventory and manufacturing finance. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role suited to someone with strong stock experience.

Operating in a fast-paced, transformation environment, you will partner closely with finance and operational teams to identify gaps and implement practical, scalable improvements. You will drive automation, strengthen controls, and optimise systems (including SAP), while supporting the evaluation of new tools. You will also provide oversight to team members and ensure high-quality reporting aligned to factory operations, with success measured through tangible improvements in processes, system utilisation, and financial stability.


  • Lead improvements across inventory and manufacturing finance, embedding best practice processes, controls, and structures
  • Support finance transformation initiatives, with a focus on strengthening inventory management capability
  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention
  • Optimise system usage (including SAP) and support the evaluation and implementation of new tools
  • Partner closely with finance, operations, and systems teams to improve inventory tracking, reporting, and data integrity
  • Manage and develop a Finance Business Partner while ensuring high-quality reporting and operational support during change


You will bring strong experience in inventory finance within a manufacturing environment, with a proven ability to improve processes and drive operational efficiency. Comfortable working in transformation settings, you are adaptable, hands-on, and focused on delivery.

You have solid ERP experience, ideally SAP, enabling you to quickly optimise systems and improve data accuracy. A collaborative approach is key, you work effectively across finance and operations, communicate clearly, and support and develop others where needed.


  • Strong experience in inventory finance within a manufacturing environment, managing complex operations
  • Proven track record of delivering process improvements and system enhancements through hands-on execution
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, transformation environments with the ability to adapt quickly
  • Skilled at assessing processes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing practical, results-driven solutions
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems, with a focus on improving inventory tracking and reporting
  • Effective communicator and mentor, able to develop others and partner across finance and operations in an on-site setting
