SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD / SEMH) – Multiple Roles Across Kent

Location: Kent (Medway, Tonbridge, Canterbury, Maidstone, Sittingbourne)
Position Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only
Pay Rate: From £14.28 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Hours: Typically 8:30am – 3:30pm (some settings 8:00am – 4:00pm)

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support secondary-aged pupils (11–18) within specialist school settings across Kent. These roles focus on working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an agency role to start, offering the opportunity to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual student needs
  • Assist in managing behaviour in a calm, structured, and supportive manner
  • Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff
  • Help create a safe and inclusive learning environment

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with SEN, particularly ASD and/or SEMH (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patience, resilience, and empathy
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • Right to work in the UK (ETW)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
  • Must be available to start immediately
  • Willing to register with our agency, including compliance checks and references
