A prestigious global law firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Conflicts Associate to join its General Counsel & Risk team in London. This is an exceptional opportunity for a qualified legal professional with significant experience in conflicts and regulatory matters to play a pivotal role within a truly international practice.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide senior-level advice on conflicts of interest and regulatory issues to partners, sector leaders, firm management, and other stakeholders across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.
  • Evaluate new and existing business for potential legal and regulatory risks, delivering pragmatic solutions that align with both ethical obligations and commercial objectives.
  • Assist with complex decisions relating to conflicts and confidentiality matters under various ethical rules applicable across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support the implementation of effective compliance processes by collaborating closely with the General Counsel for New Business, Head of Conflicts, and operational leads.
  • Manage, supervise, or mentor junior members of the General Counsel & Risk team, ensuring their ongoing professional development and knowledge growth.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of systems, procedures, and internal resources related to conflicts management and general compliance issues.
  • Guide colleagues on reviewing engagement letters, panel appointments, non-disclosure agreements, and other client documents to ensure they meet firm standards.
  • Lead or collaborate on projects requiring input from a risk or compliance perspective at both departmental and firmwide levels.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of rolling training programmes on conflicts and confidentiality for New Business teams.
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness throughout the organisation by facilitating training sessions for Practice groups and Business Services teams.

Role requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales), Registered European Lawyer (REL), Registered Foreign Lawyer (RFL), or qualified Barrister/Solicitor in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa or the United States with at least eight years' post-qualification experience in an international law firm or relevant in-house setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex legal issues involving conflicts of interest and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven track record of providing clear written and oral advice on sensitive matters to stakeholders at all levels-including those from diverse cultural backgrounds where English may not be their first language.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior legal professionals within a collaborative team environment.
  • High level of technical expertise in conflicts law combined with sound judgement when making risk-based decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an empathetic approach to communication; able to articulate complex concepts respectfully and succinctly.
