A broad Senior Management Accountant role in a £50m, PE-backed FMCG business, sitting directly under the Group Financial Controller.
You’ll be involved in everything from reporting and forecasting through to supporting pricing and margin decisions across the business.
As the number two to the Group FC, you’ll have direct exposure to both the Group FC and Group Finance Director, with real involvement in improving visibility, supporting decision making, and driving performance as the business scales.
Established in the 1950s, the business has been a key local employer for decades. With recent private equity investment, they’re now entering a new phase of growth, with further expansion expected.
Key responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Preparation of the monthly management accounts, P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow
Journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain the fixed asset register and the HP reconciliations
Reviewing nominal entries and the inputs from accounts payable, and usage of the correct VAT codes
Prepare the daily sales report and flash forecast
Assist in the preparation of year-end financial reports
Support the audit and statutory reporting.
Assist with maintaining the 13-week cashflow forecast
Use SQL to extract financial information and create reports.
Manage the business rebates and update the display credits tracker.
Ad-hoc analysis as required by the business.
Power BI Development:
Collaborate with the finance team to develop and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports.
Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all Power BI outputs.
Support wider team members in using Power BI for their reporting needs.
Business Partnering:
Work closely with various departments to understand their financial data needs.
Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting
Implement best practices in financial analysis and reporting
Key requirements
ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified, finalist, or strong QBE
Experience in an SME environment
FMCG, manufacturing, stock or distribution experience helpful
Strong Excel
Comfortable working with non-finance stakeholders
Commercial mindset with the ability to challenge and add value
